One: Listening: Listen to your partner, friend or parent by hearing the feelings behind the words.
Two: Checking Things Out: It is not enough to just listen. You need to be proactive and check out what you have heard. By simply asking, “what did you hear me say” is an effective means of feeling heard. This ensures you understand the communication.
Three: Understanding and Empathy: Once the feeling is expressed, it's time to put yourself in your partner's shoes and give feedback what you heard. This enables the other person to feel heard.
Communication is the key to a healthy relationship at home, in business and within yourself.
